- I have been using the 2-dog Dogtra collar for over 2 months now and have been extremely satisfied with my purchase. As a background, I use the collars on my Siberian Husky (Female, 55lbs, 18 months old) and Black Labrador (Male, 80lbs, 16 months old). Both are very active with lots of energy and are eager to give the animals in my neighborhood a run for their money if they get the chance. I live in a townhome with no fenced in yard, so between bathroom breaks and regular walks in my subdivision, the constant putting on and taking off the leashes got old quickly. I bought these collars in hopes of improving my dogs' behavior in the house as well as being able to take them outside to exercise or simply go to the bathroom without constantly worrying they would take off down the road. These collars have been a life-saver that has not only made it easier to take the dogs outside, but has really helped me to set rules and boundaries for my dogs in the home and when they are outside my arm's reach (when they decide that listening to me is optional). I previously used Petsafe collars, but found that the range and stimulation to be inconsistent and would say those collars are best for low energy or happy-go-lucky dogs that need small adjustments from time to time. These collars have proved to be the real-deal for my 2 best friends and the reason I strongly recommend these Dogtra collars: consistency, ease of use and variation in stimulation. Also, having the ability to control both dogs on one controller is genius. The highest level I have ever had to use is 50 of 127 vs the 10 of 10 on the other collars (remember, these are my best friends and the last thing I would ever wish for is to cause them undo pain). I believe anyone with a stubborn dog or one that can become easily fixated on objects understands how hard it can be to get their attention and also how important it is to do it quickly. These collars have done just that. The collars are easy to put on and off and I usually let them wear them in and out of the house (usually 2-3 hours in the morning and 4-5 hours in the evening). I wish to make it clear that my dogs are under my supervision at all times and that consistency has been the key to my success in using these collars as they will do the job every single time. So in summary, if you are at your wits end, feel like you have no control over your dog(s), don't feel you could ever walk your dog outside off-leash (all feelings I used to have) and are serious about working daily to improve your dog's behavior both in the home and out, I can think of no better tool to have than these collars. I wish anyone that may read this review great success and believe you will be equally impressed with these collars as I have been. Good luck!
- This is the second Dogtra collar I've owned. And I love it! The only reason I bought a new one is because I have two dogs now and decided to upgrade to the two-dog system. Dogtra makes the best collars, they are incredibly easy to use, very reliable, and last forever. And Dogtra has made some really great improvements over the last collar I purchased. It's much easier to activate the collars now. The only caution I give is to make sure you realize the buttons on the front are PAGERS not shock buttons. I found out the hard way when my dog ran away from me and got into the neighbors goat pen. I couldn't figure out why he wasn't even fazed by my shocking him at the highest level. well, needless to say I was "paging" him instead of shocking him. Go figure...he didn't answer my page when there were goats to smell! And thankfully I can get my dogs attention when the collars are only set to level 35 (not 125!). Anyway, I highly recommend these great collars.
