- I have this pump in use on my reef tank and it has been flawless for 3 years. When I first set up the tank I did not have a check valve in line with it and it sucked gravel back into it when shut off. The broke the ceramic impeller. It took about 10 minutes and a phillips screwdriver to change the impeller,and it was as good as new again. If you do not clean the impeller every year or so it will decrease its output. It really moves a lot of water, and pushes several hundred gallons per hour over 12 feet consistently for me. It is a lot quieter than the competition pumps but does make soem noise as expected.
