Customer Reviews
- I wanted something narrow and long so the bed and eating area would be clearly separate from the puppy pads. Most metal crates are too short for this arrangement. I have a 4 month old Chihuahua and he is not a climber so having the top open is not an issue. I think it would work well for up to 10 to 15 lb dogs. What they don't mention and should is that the width is perfect for puppy pads. I just lift up on the cage and slip 3 sides under the edges of the cage - it appears to me they thought of this when coming up with the width. This means it discourages tearing the pads up. There is an end gate that is nice too, but I'm not using it. If you have a climbing type dog even if it is a toy breed you would need the top. On another size of this crate a reviewer said that they didn't feel it would be stable enough without the bottom tray. I would agree with that assessment. Once you put it in the tray though it is stable. I was worried about him chewing the wood but he hasn't. The bottom of the crate has ridges so I put a bath mat on the floor of the cage slightly overlapping the puppy pad, and then the bed at the left end of the crate. My dog loves it and it is short enough for me to bend over and clean the crate. This crate is a little costly but the dimensions are perfect and it does look like a piece of furniture - everyone who has seen it has made positive comments. I suspect with normal use it will last for many years. Also the ad didn't make it clear to me at least - that the bottom of the crate (tray) comes with the cage - it does.
