- I've been using the Littler Robot Eco Edition for about a week. Let me say that first off the notion that your house will smell better is rubbish. This thing stinks like any other litter box. The waste isn't delivered into some hermetically sealed container where the smell doesn't escape. It's just a plastic bin.

It also still requires work just like any other litter box. I take that back, not like any other litter box. You have to clean the dome, you have to clean the rubbish bin.

Does this save you money? I don't think so. It uses electricity which a normal litter box does not use. It also still uses litter. And so far it seems to use more litter. Although my cats are still curious so they maybe contributing to the litter issue. It uses electricity.

There's also the potential for break down. And purchasing the replacement parts are going to be more than buying a new litter box.

On the positive side I haven't had any mechanical/electronic issues. The thing does clean itself. But overall I can think of plenty of things that are a better value.

- The Litter Robot is the best purchase I've ever made! I never had cats but my fiancee has two and I somehow took over responsibility of cleaning the litterbox. I did this dutifully for about a year and then I started looking at automatic litterboxes. The Litter Robot had overwhelmingly positive reviews and I decided to give this machine a try.

We have two cats - a 16 pound 2 year old and a 7 pound 4 year old. I left the old litterbox in place and set the Litter Robot next to the old box. Within 24 hours both cats were using the Litter Robot. I discarded the old box on day #2 and have not had any problems. The cats love the Litter Robot and so do I. I can't believe how much easier and enjoyable life is without the constant threat of having to empty a regular litterbox with a scoop. We've had the litterbox for a week and it works so well. I would definitely recommend this to anyone with cats!

- After having to replace our litter maid every 6 to 8 months, we read the reviews and decided to try the Litter Robot. We were extremely happy with the way it worked but had to learn to live with the noise of the motor when it activated (about as loud as the vacuum cleaner) since it only activated a few times a day.

After 4 1/2 years of faithful duty, the old Robot was ready for a trade-in. We purchased the Robot II and are extremely pleased with the "improvements" that have been made. The motor is considerably quieter, the extended lip is great and I'm sure that we'll find more things about it that we like! The cats seem to like the bubble in the back of the globe.

Litter Robot LRII Automatic Self Cleaning Litter Box Black

Litter Robot LRII Automatic Self-Cleaning Litter Box, Black
The Litter Robot is the automatic, self cleaning litter box 'that really works'. When your cat enters the litter chamber (globe) a weight activated sensor detects the presence of your cat. After 7 minutes a clean cycle starts with the slow rotation of the globe in a counter-clockwise direction. The rotation of the globe sifts and separates clumps from the clean litter (clumping litter) and deposits all waste in the large capacity drawer lined with a standard kitchen garbage bag. The globe then returns to its home position with a clean, level bed of litter ready for the next use. The Litter Robot has no rakes or wires to jam, clog, or break. Its simplicity and durable construction ensure a long life of service. The Litter Robot operates on 12VDC and is easy to set up - just add litter to the globe and plug it in. Backed by an 18 month warranty and 30 day money back guarantee on purchase price.

- Cat Genie or Litter Robot? I've been back and forth half a dozen times in the last month or so trying to plan this big purchase wanting to make sure I got it right because at a couple hundred bucks a pop - I'm unlikely to be able to try these out indefinitely. But this [...] side by side comparison of both from a satisfied user of both is just what I needed.

I was leaning towards the genie as being an apartment dweller carting in and out heavy bags of litter is really just killing me but the bad reviews were making me anxious about it. I can manage the litter on occasion but could I really stomach the smell of a backed up or not properly cleaned bowl? What if it backed up and didn't just sit in the bowl but overflowed? My deposit would be ruined and I'd never be able to get the sledge out of all the crannies. I think I'd rather live with any smell I get from the LR (my cat simply has stinky poo) and noise than having to clean up sludge.

After all the point is to NOT have to deal directly with poo anymore right?

I ordered direct from the manufacturer for the 90 day return for a full refund policy and the discounted 'refurbished' models. Some cats simply don't like the robot and their models get returned practically unused but they lower the price 100 dollars to encourage resale and people on tighter budgets to try out the robot. Mine looked like new except it came with a 'free' extender lip pre attached. One week of shipping though you really need to be there when it arrives or have it shipped to a location where someone can bring it in for you, they ship UPS (which is terrible to go and pick up packages at after you've missed delivery around here not transit taking apartment dweller friendly location at all.)

Within 24 hours of arrival and set up my Whisper has already used the product! She's still less than a full year old which gave her the kitten curiosity edge. It is very large but not too indiscreet where I have it in my living room and so far I'm happy as can be with it!

- As a first time cat owner, we knew we wanted an automatic litter box with our busy lives. We made the mistake of buying an automatic open style and the kitten left piles of litter outside the box. We decided to splurge on this "spaceship".

Best thing we ever did. The kitten had no problem adapting, she goes into it and leaves almost no litter outside the box. (I only need a small broom to get the pieces of litter every few days, not even a vacuum). I can go a week before emptying the bag, no odor at all. NOt sure why people complained of the noise, we don't find it noisy at all. It has a great feature where it will empty the litter and open up to let you clean it. We have it near our washer dryer, and no problems at all. Great product !!!!!!!!!

- My husband bought this as a Christmas gift for me almost 2 years ago. We LOVE it! It has saved a lot of money on cat litter and paid for itself plus you don't have to scoop the litter anymore. We have 4 cats and I only have to worry about it every 2 days! Just open the drawer, tie the bag off & put a new one in then shut the door & add a little more litter to the machine.

- This is a great product/concept. While it costs less to buy/use this very expensive litter box than it does to maintain 2 "low tech" litter boxes (you buy MUCH LESS litter over the course of the year than you need to using the traditional litter pan) - I've burned through 2 of them in the past 4 years and tonight the motor burned out just 20 months after I purchased the last one. VERY FRUSTRATING and the only reason that I didn't give it 5 stars.

I would highly recommend this for any elderly relative who loves their kitties but has trouble bending/ scooping/ carrying cartons of litter -- even though it needs to be replaced every 18-20 months, its worth the convenience and the peace of mind.

- I've been using an inexpensive Wahl pet trimmer on my cat's matted fur. My cat gets heavy mats during the winter months that we have a terrible time preventing. When I recently purchased the cordless Andes 64800 AGR+ Professional trimmer I expected a more effective trimmer than my old Wahl. I was disappointed. My old trimmer worked better than the professional Andes model. The Andes cordless trimmer was not the answer to our problem.

- I love the power and versatility of this clipper. No longer do you have to work around a cord and also have the power you need to get the job done! I love it!

- This may be the Mac-Daddy of all animal clippers. It arrived fully charged!

POWER: The specs show that the speed is slightly slower on battery than via power cord, but on battery it keeps up with all the other new models fine.

BATTERY LIFE: I didn't buy the power cord. I did an entire Chow and a really thick Lab before I thought it may be slowing down. Maybe I was just nervous, maybe it would have kept going? I put it on the charger at night & the next day it was good as new.

NO HOOK! It has no hook to hang it, which irritated me, but I later realized that when I set it down I should be setting it in the charger! If I did this, it would probably never die AND it would be safe from rolling off the table.

HOT BLADES: the blades don't heat up like my old clipper. I just dip it in blade wash or spray some WD-40 and I'm cruising again.

NOISE: The specs say it runs so cool that it doesn't need fans or vents. I have no idea the internal temp but the lack of fan & vents keeps it quiet, and my grooming job is much easier when the dog isn't freaking out from the noise.

1 SPEED: this has on and off. No low or high setting. I only use the high setting & I'm irritated when I accidentally get on Low so that's fine for me.

LOCKING SWITCH: make sure your thumb is directly on the red button when trying to switch on/off. No more accidentally turning it off during a grooming, you have to mean it.

I was working on a Golden Ret when he got tired. I let him down on the floor, he went to his bed & laid down. I just picked up my cordless clipper & went to him. No cord to deal with, no restraints.

I wonder if I could take this to horses out where there isn't a power outlet? I'm going to look into that!

- It was easy, took my husband and I about 3-5 hours to put together. The chainlink was tangled just a bit, but it would be anywhere you bought it, so thats fine...thats what took the longest. My dog loves it and has lots of room.

- It took a little time for my two cats to get used to it, but now that they have I couldn't be happier with it. Not being a slave to scooping litter every night has been wonderful.

- I got this product a few months ago and have waited to review it until I had time to try it out for a bit. I was so satisfied with the litter robot that I ended up ordering a second one about a month after the first.

I have seven cats that are all indoor cats. It took some work to get most of them used to the litter robot. I ended up having to leave out the old litter box for a while and in another room, then moved it into the same room, and then at that point - those that still weren't using it I closed in the room (decent sized room) with the litter robot and just watched the catch under the robot to see when they used it. Once one used it they were free to go. I did have 3-4 times that we had a cat go outside the litter boxes but that was when I tried just putting the litter robot in the house and no other litter box (before the steps above).

It makes taking care of litter a lot easier than having to scoop. The cat uses the robot by climbing in and triggering a pressure switch on the bottom of the unit (which if placed on an unlevel or non-smooth floor can have problems being triggered by the cat but isn't hard to fix), the cat does it's duty and 7 minutes later (provided no other cats also trigger the pressure switch) the robot turns and dumps the clumped litter into a container in the bottom of the unit and turns back with the clean litter ready to use. You do have to be careful in that if the container in the bottom gets over-filled then used litter will start to smear on the outside of the unit as it turns; just keeping an eye on when it needs to be changed will solve this problem.

The manufacture does make biodegradable bags for the unit which fit perfectly but I did find out that with a decent sized litter bag or a 13 gallon garbage bag I could get it to work as long as I don't let it get too full. The garbage bag is nice because then I just lift it out, close the bag up, and throw in the garbage. The manufacture bags are heavy duty and tougher then a normal garbage bag and can also be closed and tossed.

I've had a couple of times that I would find the lights flashing on the robot but I found if I turn it off and back on (or unplug and plug back in) then the unit will continue with a cycle of emptying dirty litter and go back ready to use.

Decide you want to change out the litter completely? No problem, just press the "empty" button and it empties all the litter out of the unit into the chamber below. The "fill" button turns it so the holes that it dumps the litter out of will turn upwards, then on the back of the unit there is a sliding movable button - move it to lock the 'doors' open and pour in new litter. There is also a "cycle" button you can use so you don't wait the 7 minutes (but giving the 7 minutes if you can will help the waste solidify and empty easier).

Still nervous about the unit? Check for a trial period (I believe Amazon is 30 days)and if it doesn't work for you or your cats then send it back. Personally I got this unit because I have a couple of large cats (one is 18 lbs and not overweight, just large) and it has the window bubble on the back. I also suggest getting the 'lip' attachment if your unit doesn't come with it. It helps catch any litter that gets thrown around (or in the case of one of my cats, liquid waste since he doesn't turn completely into the litter robot) and is inclined back towards the inside of the robot. I do recommend having a litter mat in front of the robot though (as with any litterbox) to catch whatever litter granules your cat brings out with him/her.

I tried a few other litter boxes before trying this one and this is the best I've found. I've been very happy with my litter robot's. They contain any smell very well of the dumped litter. They are pricey but well worth the money in my opinion.

- The LRII came quickly in the mail. One quick note, the box is bigger than one might expect. The instructions provided are straight forward and simple. Set up took about 5 minutes and that includes reading a little of the manual. After the set up, I followed the instructions and put litter in it and a small sample of matter from the old boxes. I left it off overnight and was pleased to see that both cats had used it during the night. I turned it on and voila.

A week later, I have retired four litter boxes and couldn't be happier. Not only does the house smell great, it also just feels cleaner somehow. No more random litter sprays or accidents when the cat has his butt hung the wrong way.

350 bucks is well worth it. The litter box goes from a nuisance to something that's mildly entertaining.

    - I'm very happy with this purchase. The range of this stimulator is better than any other I've seen. Others I've used don't work very well if there are hills or metal structures in the way. Though not perfect, this one is the best I've found. The best thing is the beeper option; it is extremely useful for training the dog and limiting shocking the animal. My only complaint is that there isn't a momentary audio option to support training without shocking the dog.
