Litter Robot LRII Automatic Self Cleaning Litter Box Black

Litter Robot LRII Automatic Self-Cleaning Litter Box, Black
The Litter Robot is the automatic, self cleaning litter box 'that really works'. When your cat enters the litter chamber (globe) a weight activated sensor detects the presence of your cat. After 7 minutes a clean cycle starts with the slow rotation of the globe in a counter-clockwise direction. The rotation of the globe sifts and separates clumps from the clean litter (clumping litter) and deposits all waste in the large capacity drawer lined with a standard kitchen garbage bag. The globe then returns to its home position with a clean, level bed of litter ready for the next use. The Litter Robot has no rakes or wires to jam, clog, or break. Its simplicity and durable construction ensure a long life of service. The Litter Robot operates on 12VDC and is easy to set up - just add litter to the globe and plug it in. Backed by an 18 month warranty and 30 day money back guarantee on purchase price.

- I've been using the Littler Robot Eco Edition for about a week. Let me say that first off the notion that your house will smell better is rubbish. This thing stinks like any other litter box. The waste isn't delivered into some hermetically sealed container where the smell doesn't escape. It's just a plastic bin.

It also still requires work just like any other litter box. I take that back, not like any other litter box. You have to clean the dome, you have to clean the rubbish bin.

Does this save you money? I don't think so. It uses electricity which a normal litter box does not use. It also still uses litter. And so far it seems to use more litter. Although my cats are still curious so they maybe contributing to the litter issue. It uses electricity.

There's also the potential for break down. And purchasing the replacement parts are going to be more than buying a new litter box.

On the positive side I haven't had any mechanical/electronic issues. The thing does clean itself. But overall I can think of plenty of things that are a better value.

- Cat Genie or Litter Robot? I've been back and forth half a dozen times in the last month or so trying to plan this big purchase wanting to make sure I got it right because at a couple hundred bucks a pop - I'm unlikely to be able to try these out indefinitely. But this [...] side by side comparison of both from a satisfied user of both is just what I needed.

I was leaning towards the genie as being an apartment dweller carting in and out heavy bags of litter is really just killing me but the bad reviews were making me anxious about it. I can manage the litter on occasion but could I really stomach the smell of a backed up or not properly cleaned bowl? What if it backed up and didn't just sit in the bowl but overflowed? My deposit would be ruined and I'd never be able to get the sledge out of all the crannies. I think I'd rather live with any smell I get from the LR (my cat simply has stinky poo) and noise than having to clean up sludge.

After all the point is to NOT have to deal directly with poo anymore right?

I ordered direct from the manufacturer for the 90 day return for a full refund policy and the discounted 'refurbished' models. Some cats simply don't like the robot and their models get returned practically unused but they lower the price 100 dollars to encourage resale and people on tighter budgets to try out the robot. Mine looked like new except it came with a 'free' extender lip pre attached. One week of shipping though you really need to be there when it arrives or have it shipped to a location where someone can bring it in for you, they ship UPS (which is terrible to go and pick up packages at after you've missed delivery around here not transit taking apartment dweller friendly location at all.)

Within 24 hours of arrival and set up my Whisper has already used the product! She's still less than a full year old which gave her the kitten curiosity edge. It is very large but not too indiscreet where I have it in my living room and so far I'm happy as can be with it!

- As a first time cat owner, we knew we wanted an automatic litter box with our busy lives. We made the mistake of buying an automatic open style and the kitten left piles of litter outside the box. We decided to splurge on this "spaceship".

Best thing we ever did. The kitten had no problem adapting, she goes into it and leaves almost no litter outside the box. (I only need a small broom to get the pieces of litter every few days, not even a vacuum). I can go a week before emptying the bag, no odor at all. NOt sure why people complained of the noise, we don't find it noisy at all. It has a great feature where it will empty the litter and open up to let you clean it. We have it near our washer dryer, and no problems at all. Great product !!!!!!!!!
